"The Hunger Games" is a dystopian novel written by Suzanne Collins. The story is set in a future society where a totalitarian government called the Capitol holds an annual event called the Hunger Games, in which one boy and one girl from each of the twelve districts are chosen to fight to the death in an arena. The protagonist, a sixteen-year-old girl named Katniss Everdeen, volunteers to take her younger sister's place in the games. The novel follows Katniss as she navigates the deadly arena and grapples with her own feelings of love, loyalty, and survival in a harsh and unforgiving world. "The Hunger Games" is the first book in a trilogy and has been adapted into a successful film franchise.
